My name is Emily Franklin, and I came up with the name melondust around 2000. At the time, it was simply a name I loved. When I started my design agency, Emdesign, in 2001, melondust quietly stayed in the background. I didn’t know what it was meant to become or whether I would ever use it at all. More than twenty years later, during a meditation in 2022, it suddenly made sense.
By then, my own journey had taken me through personal development, therapy, spirituality, energy work, healing and learning to trust myself. melondust had finally found its place. And looking back, perhaps I’d been finding my way towards it for much longer than I realised.
My interest in energy and healing goes back to around 2003, when I met somebody who practised Reiki. I didn’t immediately rush out and become a healer myself. Far from it. Over the years I visited mediums, experienced magnetising treatments and continued to feel curious about a world I couldn’t always explain. Then came a trip to Ibiza that became an important part of that journey. It helped me recognise something I’d sensed for a long time: I had my own connection with the spiritual world.
As a child, I’d seen and felt things that frightened me, and my response had been to close that part of myself down. For a long time, spirituality therefore came with curiosity and fear. Slowly, that changed. I began to realise that I didn’t need to be frightened by what I sensed. I could become curious about it instead and learn and understand my own sensitivity. And eventually, I could begin embracing it.
Around 2015, I took a Reiki course. Interesting, but it didn’t feel quite right for me. So, I kept searching for a methodology that did feel right. Personal and spiritual growth hasn’t been about finding one system and deciding I have all the answers. It’s been about exploring, feeling, learning and noticing what resonates.
During readings, I kept being encouraged to explore spirituality and energy work further. Eventually, that led me to Integrated Energy Therapy, and something clicked. IET became the real starting point for melondust as a healing practice. From there, I continued developing my knowledge through courses in areas including chakra healing, crystal healing, energy frequency therapy, spirituality and personal development.
Alongside all this I also trained in coaching because I wanted more ways to support the person behind the healing, and not only through the energy.
My interest in personal growth has always been there and around 2015 I reached a point where I realised that being aware of certain repeating patterns wasn’t enough, I wanted to understand them. I sought therapy which became an enormous eye-opener for me. It helped me see things differently and marked the beginning of a much more intentional personal-growth journey.
Then, in 2021, I joined a year-long programme centred around personal development and healing. That was where I was introduced properly to journaling. At first, I didn’t really get it. Sitting down with a notebook and somehow expecting meaningful things to appear on the page didn’t come naturally. But gradually something shifted. I realised journaling gave me a place to put everything that otherwise stayed circling around in my head. Questions, reactions, patterns, ideas and emotions. But also, things I wanted or was avoiding or hadn’t quite admitted to myself yet. Once I understood how powerful that could be, I didn’t stop. And journaling eventually became another important part of my life and melondust.
And this matters to me. I don’t believe personal growth reaches a point where we can say: Right. Finished. Everything sorted. I’m still learning, I still take courses and receive healings and sessions myself. I continu to reflect and meet parts of myself that ask for attention. And I keep discovering new ways of seeing things I thought I already understood. That influences the way I work with other people.
I’m not here to sit opposite you and pretend I have life completely figured out. I’m not here to tell you exactly how you should live. And I don’t believe being a healer means being somehow above the human experience. I’ve done a lot of my own work and continue to do it. Because if I’m asking somebody else to be willing to look inward, I believe I should be doing the same.

For years, I saw my interests as separate things. Healing, energy, crystals, spirituality, personal development, coaching and journaling. But eventually I began to see the connection.
Again and again, I found myself sitting with people while they talked about something they were struggling with. Listening, asking another question, looking underneath the first answer and sharing something that had helped me. I would suggest a tool they might try, try and help them see something from a different angle. And I realised that this is probably the red thread running through melondust.
Sometimes through a healing, other times through reflection or a question. And sometimes through something I’ve learned on my own journey and can now pass on. I don’t expect one method to be right for everybody because it hasn’t been that way for me either.
I love the spiritual world with angels, energy, crystals and intuition. Our connection with things we can’t always explain logically. That’s genuinely part of who I am and part of melondust. But I’m also very grounded and have both feet on solid ground. Because ultimately, personal growth has to come back into everyday life. Your relationships and choices. The way you speak to yourself and the boundaries you set. What you tolerate and keep repeating, and what you finally decide to change.
A beautiful spiritual experience can be meaningful. But so can saying no when you normally say yes. Recognising that you need rest or by having an honest conversation. Seeing an old pattern while it’s happening instead of three days later. Trusting the feeling you’ve been trying to talk yourself out of. For me, those worlds belong together.
Spiritual, but grounded.
Intuitive, but practical.
Gentle, but honest.
Healing can be vulnerable, so can personal growth. Sometimes people talk about things they haven’t said out loud before. They may share fears, relationships, patterns or experiences that feel deeply personal and I take that trust seriously. What you share with me is treated with care, respect and discretion. There’s no judgment, no need to explain yourself perfectly. And no expectation that you have to share more than you want to. You remain in charge of your own experience. My job is to create a grounded, supportive space around it.
melondust isn’t built around one technique. The way I work today has developed through years of exploring the practices and tools that genuinely resonate with me. That currently includes areas such as Integrated Energy Therapy, chakra healing, crystal healing, energy frequency therapy, coaching tools, journaling and self-reflection.
And I continue learning. Not because I believe I need to collect endless qualifications. But because curiosity is part of who I am. When something genuinely adds depth to the way I understand people, energy or personal growth, I want to explore it.
When I started melondust, the answer was actually quite simple. It felt right. I wanted to help people through healing, and then the rest began growing around it. Because a healing can create space. But sometimes afterwards you want to understand what came up. That leads to reflection. Reflection can reveal patterns that create opportunities for growth. That’s why melondust has gradually become bigger than a healing session. It’s a place for the different parts of that journey to meet.
Heal.
Reflect.
Grow.
Not as a rigid process. As different ways of finding your way back to yourself.

Maybe something in your life has begun asking for your attention. A recurring pattern, a feeling you can’t quite shake. Or a need for more space, a desire for change, or simply the sense that you would like to feel a little more connected to yourself again. You don’t need to know where it’s leading yet. You only need somewhere to begin.
